Opendorse and Momentum Launch Athlete-Driven Partnership

Sports may be on pause, but the athlete’s voice is stronger than ever before. We’ve all seen it in practice. Athletes impact culture, effect change, and drive conversation well beyond the lines of their sport. What they say – and what they share – matters.

Today, we’re proud to launch a partnership designed to further empower the athlete’s voice.

We have partnered with Momentum to streamline the distribution of athlete-driven media. Together, we will help athletes engage fans and build brand value on social media by making personalized premium content accessible and available to publish with just one tap.

We believe every athlete has the ability to build valuable channels that last long beyond their playing days, and this partnership is aimed to help them do just that.

“All eyes are on athlete-driven media right now,”

“With live sports on pause, there’s no better time for athletes in every sport to double down on social media and build authentic, long-lasting connections with our fans. This partnership with Opendorse allows fans to see more of the content they love, while helping athletes maximize the value of their channels,” said Bauer.

About the athlete-driven alliance

Early conversations made clear that this partnership offered unmatched alignment for the two organizations. Both companies exist to help athletes connect with fans and create value on social media.

Pairing Momentum’s athlete-specific media with the Opendorse publishing platform will offer scalable athlete distribution, and ultimately, the peak athlete-driven media experience for players and fans.

“Media companies built for athlete distribution and social consumption will lead the next era of innovation in sports media.”

– Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence

Trevor Bauer and Taiki Green founded Momentum with the goal of sharing authentic player stories and ultimately affecting the public perception of baseball. Since the launch, Momentum has become the first-ever player-led media company credentialed by Major League Baseball. The team is changing the way that that baseball players and fans connect and ultimately how the sport is marketed.

With Opendorse, Momentum can seamlessly share premium video and visual media with participating athletes, including Bauer. Once shared, athletes can review, approve, and publish to their personal social media channels with our one-tap publishing platform.

“Media companies built for athlete distribution and social consumption will lead the next era of innovation in sports media,” said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. “And I believe Momentum is leading that charge. It’s exciting to help athletes alongside an organization with core beliefs that align so closely with our own at Opendorse.”
