MOKAN joins Opendorse Ready™ to Help Student-Athletes Build Personal Brands in Preparation for Name, Image, and Likeness
MOKAN Basketball, one of the nation’s premier grassroots basketball programs, announced today its decision to join Opendorse Ready, the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Readiness program. By teaming with Opendorse, MOKAN will provide its athletes with the personal brand development resources and endorsement management technology used by thousands of the world’s most marketable athletes and brands.
“We realize the coming NIL legislation is going to provide new opportunities for college athletes as soon as they step on campus,” said MOKAN Founder and Director Matt Suther. “As an organization, we have an obligation to prepare student-athletes for those opportunities and there is no one better at doing that than Opendorse. Through our partnership with Opendorse, MOKAN student-athletes and families will have access to the absolute best social media education, training and support.”
“Through our partnership with Opendorse, MOKAN student-athletes and families will have access to the absolute best social media education, training and support.”
The agreement makes MOKAN the first high school-level program to join Opendorse Ready. The program provides three core pillars to student-athlete brand building success: Assessment, Education, and Performance – tailored to assist each individual athlete. Opendorse Ready is currently used by top athletic departments in college athletics including Clemson, Nebraska, Indiana, and Louisville, among others.
With a storied history of producing top prospects, and eventually NBA players, MOKAN has seen the value of personal and professional brand development firsthand. MOKAN alumni including Trae Young, Willie Cauley-Stein, Michael Porter Jr, and many more have tied on-court performance to success in off-court endeavors by developing valuable personal brands. As NIL changes stand to bring these opportunities to NCAA student-athletes, it’s paramount that players have access to the resources that will position them for success at the collegiate level and beyond.
“Today’s high school seniors will be the first student-athletes to enter college in the NIL era,” said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. “They have the ability make the most of their opportunity from day-one. From choosing a school, to maximizing opportunities on campus, and even setting themselves up for life after basketball – NIL will play a massive role in their lives. It’s an opportunity, but also a challenge. That’s why I’m so proud to help a storied program in MOKAN to best-prepare their student-athletes to develop off-the-court and find success.”
