John Carroll University Partners with Opendorse to Provide NIL Education and Opportunities

(University Heights, Ohio and Lincoln, Neb. – September 10, 2025) – John Carroll University (JCU) has announced a new partnership with Opendorse, the leading technology, data, and service provider in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). A member of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), John Carroll is joining the growing list of Division III institutions preparing their student-athletes to succeed in the NIL era.

Through this partnership, Blue Streaks student-athletes will access Education+, an on-demand program with expert-led courses and resources on contracts, marketing, taxes, and brand development.

JCU will launch a custom-branded Opendorse Marketplace where fans, brands, and alumni can connect directly with athletes for compliant NIL opportunities. In addition, athletes will benefit from Deals+, a platform to discover, negotiate, and complete opportunities with streamlined management and support.

“We are very excited to announce our partnership with Opendorse,” said Brian Polian, Vice President for Athletics and National Engagement at John Carroll University. “This move will allow our student-athletes to participate in NIL, but do so in an organized and responsible manner. We believe that this tool makes it easier for local businesses and alumni groups to engage with our athletes resulting in increased opportunities for collaboration and greater visibility for the university.”

The NCAC has been at the forefront of advancing NIL support for its members, including its role in the Opendorse Bowl Series, a premier Division III showcase hosted annually at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. John Carroll’s investment builds on this momentum, ensuring Blue Streaks athletes are prepared for long-term success.

“John Carroll is taking a forward-thinking approach to NIL,” said Jake Daugherty, Manager, Collegiate Partnerships at Opendorse. “By combining education with marketplace and deal opportunities, they’re setting up Blue Streaks athletes to engage responsibly while maximizing their potential.”
