(402) Creamery: Student-Athletes Give Back to Charity with Local Ice Cream Shop

Using Opendorse’s Pitch Anything feature, (402) Creamery connected with Nebraska Volleyball setter Nicklin Hames and her teammates for a unique NIL partnership.

The Deal

+ Nebraska volleyball players created their own limited edition ice cream flavor with proceeds supporting a local nonprofit. The Huskers were asked to market their ice cream on social media and make an in-person appearance

+ After the initial connection, Hames brought in teammates Ally Batenhorst, Kayla Caffey, Anni Evans, and Lexi Rodriguez. Together they created “Bump, Set, Scoop:” cream cheese ice cream with brownies, red velvet cake, and Oreo crunch. 50% of the profit from every pint and $1 of every scoop sold was donated to The Hope Venture. The Hope venture uses “education and health projects to bring hope to people in India, Kenya and Uganda.”

The Results

+ Batenhorst, Caffey, Evans, Hames, and Rodriguez produced 145K+ impressions and 21K likes on Instagram and reached 116K+ accounts.

+ (402) Creamery and the volleyball players raised $1,444.75 for The Hope Venture, enough to fully support a high schooler in Kenya for two years

+ (402) Creamery captured the attention of other Nebraska athletes and other Husker teams have reached out to create their own flavors.

+ “Opendorse makes it easy to connect with athletes.”  –Tyler Mannix, owner of (402) Creamery
