We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time Spanish-Speaking Medical Assistant at Riverdale Gastroenterology and Liver Disease in The Bronx, NY.
About the Role:
The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team by ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in a timely manner. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the practice. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians during procedures, and managing patient records. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with patients to provide education about their health and treatment plans. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to the overall patient experience and helps maintain the efficiency of the healthcare services provided.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- Proven experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a gastroenterology practice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program
- Current CPR certification
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Knowledge of gastroenterology procedures and terminology
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, medical histories, and assisting with procedures.
- Manage patient records, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date in the electronic health record system.
- Schedule appointments, handle patient inquiries, and provide information about services offered.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Educate patients on medication instructions, dietary recommendations, and follow-up care as directed by the healthcare provider.
