RPS Regency has been a leader in the formation and administration of self insured group (SIG) funds for over 30 years and currently administers 8 Michigan specific SIG funds.

As an Associate Underwriter, you’re on an underwriting team that manages both the workers’ compensation renewal and new business underwriting. This includes managing incoming applications from a network of independent insurance agents, researching business operations and determining eligibility within underwriting guidelines. The position offers opportunities for growth and development, including projects involving coverage rate creation, data research, meeting with insurance agents and activities with partner trade Associations.

 

The position interacts regularly with clients, prospective members, sales producers, third party claim administrators, excess insurance carriers, loss control engineers, industry trade associations and state regulators. A successful candidate in this role will excel in establishing strong relationships while utilizing data to properly apply various underwriting standards. The goal of this role is to maintain underwriting profitability while generating new business and growth opportunities.

How you’ll make an impact

• Work with a team of underwriters, to serve both current and prospective clients.
• Review applicant loss history to measure risk and ensure underwriting standards
• Apply proper processes and procedures for underwriting new and existing business

About You

• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Excellent communication in areas of presenting and conveying data
• Analytical capabilities, including interpreting data and developing underwriting strategies
• Strong level of accountability for ensuring processes are followed and deadlines met
• Strong customer service and focus on continuous improvement
• Team oriented with willingness to serve various roles when needed
• Minimum 3 years working in commercial insurance; background in Work Comp a plus
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
• Travel to Agencies & Agency Events (up to/around 10%)
